A Little About Serra

Serra Preschool is a cooperative (parent participation) preschool.  This allows us to share in a most important aspect of our child’s education – his or her first school experience.

School Hours
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday (4 & 5-year-olds class)  9:00 am – 12:15 pm
Tuesday & Thursday (3-year-olds class)  9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Parent Participation
Enthusiastic parent participation keeps our school running efficiently and allows us to keep our tuition low. Parents are scheduled to work at the school approximately 2-4 mornings a month in their child’s class. Siblings are not allowed while the parent is working.

Snacks
Parents are scheduled to bring a nutritious snack approximately once every 8 weeks on one of their scheduled workdays. You may want to bring a snack that the children can help prepare.

Monthly General Meetings
Attendance at our monthly general meetings is mandatory. At the general meetings we discuss future activities, fund-raisers, field trips & resolve any questions, which have come up during the month. As parents, this is our opportunity to have a voice in the development & enrichment of our school. Following the business portion of the meeting we invite a speaker to discuss one of a variety of topics that is pertinent to our school.

School Jobs
Each parent volunteers for a job at the school. Jobs include responsibility for arranging field trips, making play dough, and recycling, just to name a few.

Fundraisers
Serra Preschool is a non-profit organization. Therefore, in order to keep the school running, parents are expected to enthusiastically participate! Parents have the opportunity to meet their Flex Tuition requirement through fundraising, if they choose. Like regular tuition, Flex Tuition can always be paid separate from any fundraising.

The Serra Preschool calendar coincides with the calendar set by the Capistrano Unified School District.
